Musicians to raise money for Metro Food Bank at behind-the-songs event at Velvet Olive

Four Maritime musical artists will join forces on stage at 7 p.m. on Thursday at The Velvet Olive in Halifax to raise money for the Metro Food Bank.

The event was organized by Bedford singer-songwriter RyLee Madison, who will take the stage along with Fredericton's JR Vautour and Pictou County's George Canyon and Dave Gunning.

Madison won female artist of the year and country artist of the year at the 2003 Music Industry Association of Nova Scotia Music Awards.

Toronto-born, Fredericton-raised singer song/writer Vautour has racked up a string of national radio hits.

Canyon, with his blend of folk, roots and country, has recently returned home to Nova Scotia after 14 years in Alberta.

He is co-owner of Riverfront Studios in New Glasgow, with folk singer-songwriter Gunning, a two-time ECMA nominee who recently performed at TonderFest in Denmark.

Each will take turns sharing their behind-the-song stories while playing their songs in acoustic form.

Tickets are $5 at the door. Non-perishable food donations will also be collected and all door proceeds will go to the Metro Food Bank.
